Surgery on Monday
We arrived at the hospital around 12:15 on Monday. Pastor Russell and Brad met us in the lobby and had prayer with Jerry. She checked in to the surgery department and was assigned a bed and waiting cubicle.
About 1:30 a young man came to roll the bed to the surgery department. I went to eat lunch. When I returned to the hospital parking lot Evelyn was just returning to her car. She had been shopping and stopped by to check on Jerry. Evelyn and Rex plan to come back by later.
Around 3:30 a nurse called from the surgery department to report that Dr. Tan was about 20 minutes into the surgery and that he was unable to do the surgery using the scope. That means we will have a longer stay in the hospital. At 4:20 Dr. Tan came out to report that he had finished and the surgery went well. The stricture was removed and we should expect to stay in the hospital 3 or 4 days to recover.
After I got to visit in the recovery room I went to supper and returned to find Jerry in room 607. She has a morphine pump with a push button and the nurse tells her to cough often to keep her lungs clear. That is easier said than done! She is partially awake now and trying to watch Wheel of Fortune. The medication and anesthesia cause dry mouth and she is supposed to only have a little crushed ice tonight.

Your new blog format looks good. You can add David's blog to your links if you want.
Tell Momma we're thinking of her & praying for her. We did nothing blog-worthy today.
