Crash at Burleson

We witnessed a car crash Saturday in Burleson. We had pulled into the car wash lot and were waiting for an empty stall when we heard a screech and a crash. Just about 50 feet away from us on the other side of Alsbury St. a car had hit the electric pole carrying a 7,000 volt primary circuit. The pole broke completely into and the larger top part with cross arms and hardware came crashing down into the street just a couple of feet from the car that hit the pole. Have you ever heard a 7,000 volt short circuit? It was really loud with lots of fire and smoke. The driver was not seriously hurt. The air bag deployed and we saw her standing on the sidewalk talking on her cell phone with people gathered around. Volunteers began waving traffic away from the downed wires across the street. I don't know what caused the driver to run off the street.

Power went off at the carwash with some cars completely covered with foam so we left and saw the first police responders about 2 blocks away (just turning off the interstate).
