Winter Weather Continues.....

A light sleet fell during the night leaving the roads and driveways looking like snow. I have not tried driving yet but Jeff and the boys came up to warm by our wood fire. The schools in the area are all closed today but Jeff said the sleet had some texture so that the roads were not too slick this morning. My thermometer recorded a low of 17 degrees but the wind is still blowing from the north. The bamboo windbreak keeps the strong winds away from our front door so it doesn't feel so bad going out for wood. Nanny, Black Dog and the cat were piled against the front door last night.



I had to use a screwdriver to pry open the door of the Excursion this morning to get to the dog food. The doors and hatch were all covered with a layer of ice. I have been keeping the dog food in the back of the Excursion so that Marvin can feed the dog when we are out of town.

See the mockingbird in the holly bush? He was eating the berries this morning while Black Dog barked at him. This is the same bird that Black Dog likes to chase from tree to tree. Click on the picture to see the bird better.
