Pipes Heritage
Samuel and Sally Pipes moved from Limestone county Alabama to Johnson County Texas. When did this young couple come to Texas? There are land transactions recorded to Sam Pipes south of Cleburne in the late 1880's. Could this be our Samuel.
There is a Pipes family still living in the Rio Vista area but we don't know of any direct connection with our Samuel. Did Samuel have brothers that could have moved to Texas around the same time that he did?
Samuel and Sally had seven children. One of these was Buford Elbert born in 1875. Buford Elbert (El) married Eda Jane McFerrin Nov. 7, 1897 at the Auburn Baptist Church on the corner of what is now FM 916 and Auburn Rd.
B. E. and Eda had seven sons with six of these boys surviving to adulthood. Tom, Charlie, Edgar, Claude, Richard and Winston had a total of 11 children. These eleven are generally referred to by my generation as "the cousins." All of the six brothers have died and only Claude's wife Marie still survives.
Three of the cousins have died (Frank, Barbara and Patsy) and three of their spouses have died (Darrell, Tina and Beatrice).
