Back To School

For all the young parents it's that time of the year again. I dropped by the "Back To School" fair this morning just to see what was going on. This is a joint project of local churches and the Christian Heritage Foundation.

As I parked the car I noticed the football team preparing for a scrimmage.

This was our first annual back to school fair. Admission and everything else was free!

There were bounce houses for the kids to work off some of their excess energy.

A magician/ventriloquist was entertaining some children.

Angel Food had an information booth. This program sells low cost food to anyone who signs up.

The local law enforcement had a booth.

Our dentist was giving away toothbrushes.

A band from San Angelo was providing music.

They were from the church where Alan and Sue Ellen attended.

There was a sack full of grade appropriate school supplies for all the kids and a folder for the parents with information about all the churches in town.

The most popular area seemed to be the free haircuts.

The Methodist were here.

Chambers Creek Church was giving away nachos.

Grace Baptist cooked hot dogs for everyone.

Tuffy served the hot dogs.

First Baptist gave a loaf of bread, jar of jelly and a jar of peanut butter for those first sack lunches of the school year.

Some of the kids took advantage of the new splash pad in the city park.

A splash pad in Grandview! Imagine that! We have a couple here in McKinney. The one next to our kids' elementary is almost done as they're building a new park next to the 2 year old school. The kids will enjoy watching it be completed just in time for the leaves to fall off the trees! :-)
