Ponds Are Full


After receiving almost 7 inches of rain last week-end all the ponds are now full. The rain was spread over two and a half days so there was no flooding or erosion damage.


We were officially 15 inches behind on normal rainfall for the last year until this rain event.



More rain is expected today.

Saturday with the Boys

The weather was rainy and quite cool but we proceeded with our plans to visit Clark Gardens near Mineral Wells. We stopped in Weatherford for lunch and by the time we reached the gardens the rain had stopped but there was a cold breeze blowing making our visit rather disagreeable. I want to return when the weather is warmer.



Our first stop was a big tent where the garden railroad club had a display for their second annual event here.








Then we went out into the garden and enjoyed a few spring blooms.









At the back of the garden area was a permanent garden railroad display.






























We passed this chapel on our way to the back of the gardens.

Week of Funerals

A memorial service for cousin Patsy Holland was held Monday afternoon. Family visitation was from noon till 2 pm at the funeral home with a short memorial service there before going to the cemetery at 3 pm. Following the service at the cemetery our church hosted a meal for the family. We enjoyed seeing all of Patsy's family - some that we had not seen in several years.

Wednesday we drove to Austin to meet with Ann Carol and Glen while they were in Buda helping Margie get moved into her new apartment. We had a little free time and used it to visit the Cabella's store near the freeway. I bought a new GPSr! It is a Lowrance iFinder H2O (waterproof).


Thursday morning we left our Red Roof Inn in Austin to drive back to Buda and return with Ann Carol and Glenn to the airport by 6:30 am for their flight back to California. Notice all those blotches on the picture above. Those are drops of drizzle catching and reflecting the camera flash. The weather was very foggy this morning with light drizzle.

The funeral for Beatrice (Baze) Pipes, Frank's widow was at 2 pm on Thursday after a family meal at FBC around noon. We made it back from Austin in plenty of time for the meal. I know it was a disappointment that the Holland family all had to leave for their homes earlier in the week. Two deaths in one week is quite difficult for those that work and live out of state and out of the area.
