Shakers

These machines shake the ground for the seismic recordings. The variable low pitch sound is made by the vibrator part of the machine. These pictures were made behind Jeff's house. The video repeats about half way through but I don't want to reload it.



The high pitch sound is coming from Grandson in the back seat of the Excursion!

Birds

Just before we got to Sonic in Alvarado we noticed lots of birds flying and sitting on the wires over the highway intersection. These were mostly Boat Tailed Grackles and were larger than the usual black bird flocks. Then we noticed that the lawn of the bank was covered with birds hopping around and pecking for food.

The hill between the Sonic and McDonalds was covered with hundreds of them. You could hardly see the lawn in some spots.






As we sat in the car at Sonic I could see the birds in our rear view mirror. All at once they flew away. One minute the ground was covered with black birds and two seconds later there was not one single bird left. Guess they went to find a tree for the night!

Well Received

This was the first day of our new experiment at FBC Grandview. We are now having two Sunday Morning worship services. Our "old" style service with choir and organ is now meeting at 8:30 followed by Sunday School at 9:45. Then another worship service at 11:00 where the music is led by Ryan Hurt playing the keyboard and a group from our youth department composing the band. Russell is preaching at both times. Grandma and I are still in the choir so that means we will attend the early service. We probably will sometimes stay to help with the second service since I assist the technical crew but at other times we will be out early.

This week we had 85 people at the early service and about twice that number at the second service. I saw several people that I had never seen here before. Our desire is to share Christ with as many people as possible. He has done so much for us and we want to help others experience that joy.
