Good Rains

Last Tuesday the guage indicated 3 inches. Today another half inch fell on the still moist ground. The young wheat is growing and beginning to look green from a distance. The days are growing short and the nights are getting cooler. Yes, it must be fall.

Even on a cloudy hazy day the green fields look lush and inviting.

Many of the trees have lost their leaves.

Here are a few pictures from the last few weeks.

This large rock sits high on a sandstone ledge overlooking the Colorado River near Regency, TX. The holes in the rock appear to be man made. I wonder if Native Americans could have used these to grind corn and other products.

Dumplin is saying, "Please hold me!"

My supper plate was quite colorful.

The lantana near Great's driveway came into full bloom after the fall rains began.

This Hackberry Emperor rested on the outside of my truck window.

The Maypearl bank is taking on a new look.

More On The Ear


Grandpa's ear has healed completely after the removal of the small lesion on the lobe but the biopsy indicated skin cancer (squamous cell carcinoma). The next step is a visit with a surgeon in Arlington on November 9 for preliminary examination. The procedure to be done is Mohs Micrographic Surgery. Dr Kennard is a Fellow, American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology. With a handle like that he must be good! (Or at least expensive!)

Saturday With David


David and his family visited with us last week end. He enjoyed the native flowers - yes, they are broom weed.






He used Grandma's sun glasses to keep out the sun.









While Dad took the firefighter test in Ft. Worth we found a quiet park to pass the time away.





























A young squirrel enjoyed the park also.








After his test Dad joined us at Cafe-On-the-Run for supper. The weather was perfect for eating in the outdoor dinning area with a live band playing in the background.



The Hackberry Emperor butterflies collected on a rock where I had left some scraps of food for the dog. That's a tomato they are clustered around.
