Lafayette Louisana

We are in the city named for General Lafayette, a French military hero who fought with and significantly aided the American Army during the American Revolutionary War. Will helped with the research for this information. Tomorrow we head on down the old lazy river toward New Orleans and eventually into coastal Mississippi where we will meet the other workers from Grandview who will be doing construction work next week. I will post pictures of the work there.

Almost Ready

Our bag is packed, the Prius has a fresh oil change and Friday morning Will meets us at 7 am as we head for Mississippi to join others from FBC Grandview for our annual work trip. This year we will be helping build a church that was destroyed by hurricane Katrina near the beach in Pass Christian. I will post pictures of our work there.

Summer Weather

We got almost 2 inches of very welcome rain early last week. The ground was really hard and dry with large cracks in the ground but it was softened enough that we were able to do some plowing with the offset disk in the wheat field. It will soon be time to plant fall wheat for the cows to graze.

This summer I had 2 fields of sudan planted for the cows to graze. They have already devoured the first field and the second field has stopped growing until the rain. It is about 4 feet high now and will make good grazing for the cows during this hot dry weather. I have been mowing cockle burs in the grazed out field. The plants are just beginning to produce burs.
