New Wind Blows

I had hardly finished complaining about the heat when the wind started blowing from the Pacific this afternoon and made a world of difference. We had a birthday party for some of the Tatum's friends and then I went caching. The temperature was pleasant just before sundown today. Didn't have much success with the caches but enjoyed the walk.

While the kids played in the pool the adults sat in the shade.

This is the street where the caches were located. Notice that the median has not been irrigated. There is no grass at all. Each of the trees had drip emmitter beside it.

Some of the street corners were landscaped with day lilies.

Hotter Than Hot!

I thought it was supposed to be cool in northern California!! Not this week. The wind - what little there is - is coming right off the desert. The night time and early morning is pleasant but the afternoons are extremely hot. The sun seems to burn your face in just a few seconds of exposure. The weather pattern will surely change the day we leave. The heat will shift to the south central states!

This morning we went to a farmers market in nearby Clayton. There was lots of activity as residents bought fresh fruits and veggies. We had fresh garden salad for lunch that AC made from her purchase. She
also bought some p-p-cots (peach, plum, apricot cross). They were quite good.

This is a shot of the hills surrounding town.

Everything is dead and brown now. Earlier in the year they were beautiful and green in color.

Traveling Again

SE drove us to DFW Wednesday for 12:30 flight. I did not unpack the camera before our layover in in Salt Lake City. Both legs of the flight were on regional jets with the smallest between Salt Lake and Oakland. We had to walk out onto the tarmac where they swung down the door of the plane that had steps on the inside of the door. It was a struggle for Grandma to get up the steep steps.

I was enjoying our view of the Great Salt Lake when I remembered the camera. By this time all we could see was salt flats with patches of red. I don't know what caused the red color.

Monday we drove L to work at 11 and went back to get her at 4 pm. Of course there was time for a stop at the craft store!

I even bought a 99 cent paint brush! We had lunch tod
ay at El Pollo Loco where Grandma and I ordered a burrito bowl. Of course I added some of the special house sauce, some spicy guacamole sauce, chopped onions and jalapenos. Now I am thirsty!
