Saturday

The first Saturday of each month is the time for our men's breakfast at church. This month we began a new phase. All the churches in our community are meeting together for men's breakfast at the newly remodeled community center in downtown Grandview. Today's attendance was 47.

Marvin and I hauled hay and fed the cows enough to last until Monday.

After lunch I met Nick at the north place and we worked on the new corral. He brought his tractor with post hole digger and we dug holes and tamped in old railroad ties for corner posts and also the posts that will be supporting gates. With calm winds it was a little too warm for comfort this afternoon.

Tonight I have been to Grandview to get sound equipment set up for the 8:30 worship tomorrow. I installed Firefox browser and this is my first posting using the new browser. I think I am going to like it. I was able to import all by old bookmarks from Netscape 8.

More Texas Weather

Today started out warm and humid. There was so much humidity that our concrete porch had water condensing on the surface. By mid morning the temperature had reached 70 degrees. A little before noon the wind began to shift to the west and north-west with the passage of a cold front.

Soon the wind was howling and the clouds were all blowing away as the sun came out. By mid afternoon the wind was reported to be blowing 55 MPH and the relative humidity was down to 12 percent. Numerous grass fires broke out around Ft. Worth and north and west of Ft. Worth. I think I heard that about 12 homes had burned and nearly two thousand acres of grassland. Firefighters had their hands full this afternoon.

We went to Maypearl tonight for Will's induction into the Junior National Honor Society. (Here is Jeff's photo report.) When we returned home the wind was completely calm and the temperature had dropped to the mid 30's. We should have a hard freeze tonight under a clear sky.
