It feels good to be back home. Getting back into the same old rut.

Ann Carol and Lauren are both reporting on the fire conditions.

Today AC drove the car to work. Lauren drove the van to work. Glenn rode his bike to work.






Jordann went to the valley with Grandma and Grandpa. This is our Chevy Aveo for the week. I rented an economy car because I thought that meant it would get good gas mileage. WRONG!! It only means that it is a CHEAP car. Manual door locks and windows and limited cup holders. No CD player. It does have headlights and a rough ride!







We drove a big circle that took us into the San Joaquin Valley where we saw hundreds and maybe thousands of acres of tomatoes.
I bet they don't taste as good as my tomato that SE ate!

We saw young grape vines ...








and older grape vines.








And corn of all ages. Some was only a few inches high while some had begun to tassel.

Monday

We drove to the San Joaquin Valley today. I will post pictures later.

Around the House

Fire Season

This is our last full day in the Bay Area. There is a chill in the air - enough to call for a jacket if standing in the wind. The sky is hazy with the smell of smoke in the air. Two fires burn in Napa to our north. One fire on the mountain just south of San Francisco with two more burning a few more miles to our south. At least the firemen have cool temperatures to work in this morning.

Here is a view of Mt. Diablo in the smoke taken near the base of the mountain in Clayton.



Yesterday the mountain was only slightly obscured.

Jordi Cooks Supper

Jordann cooked macaroni and cheese for the family tonight.

Record Setting Rainfall

I heard on the radio yesterday about record rainfall in Modesto, CA! They officially recorded a trace of rain. This was the first rainfall ever recorded at this time of year!

Graduation Gifts

Aunt Sue wanted to see a better picture of the girls with their graduation gifts.

The Tomato Story


I was getting the feeling that my tomato would be gone by the time I returned home. I think I may be missing a whole lot!!







A C had bought tomatoes at the farmers market on Saturday.






So I sliced one and ate the whole thing! It was almost as good as homegrown.
