Thursday Road Trip

David had fun playing in the roadside park near the Bosque River. Could it be that this was David's first Grandpa venture?

Yes, there was a cache hidden in the cemetery.

Bosque County Courthouse

Do you remember the Bosque County courthouse? If not review this report that I filed in 2001.

Last year workmen began restoration work on the old building. They stripped off all the finished stone around the top of the building.

The stones were labeled and stacked in the street surrounding the courthouse.

This week I was surprised to see the almost finished outline of the building. They did not restore it to its original design but instead added a totally new roofline and clock tower.

I guess the new clock isn't working yet!

Wildflowers

On our day trip Thursday we saw lots of wildflowers along the roadsides and pastures. I think there are more flowers this year than I have seen in many years.

We saw standing cypress along the railroad tracks.

The yucca near Morgan was in full bloom.

We stopped for Sue Ellen to take a shot of blooms along the side of the road.

There was Mexican Hat....

...Coreopsis...

...Indian Blankets...

...Horsemint and much, much more.

History Revisited

Today while I was looking through my files for some old pictures I came across this report of a caching trip to Corsicana.
Tuesday - Selling Calves

I hauled 3 calves to the sale barn in Meridian today. They were scrawny heifers calves but needed to be weaned. With the light load I made good time. Noticed that the remodeling project on the courthouse in Bosque is nearly completed. I will try to find some old pictures so I can post a before and after page.

As I returned past the Chambers Creek church I noticed something unusual about their building.
