Basketball Season Ends

Andy's team played Saturday night because the opponent was Keene HS. I didn't get any pictures from his game.





Will made both of his free shots this morning.









Cathy Lowe was seen being a grandmother in Maypearl today.




Will and Jesse stayed with Grandma and Grandpa this afternoon. The cold wind was unpleasant but they spent a lot of time playing in the new pond site anyway.



Nanny seemed to enjoy the warmth of the sun on the south side of the house.

Parrish Funeral

Edith Parrish that lived down the road from us died this week and was buried today. We attended the funeral in Alvarado where she attended Central Baptist Church. It seems that funerals take a big hunk out of the day.

This afternoon I checked on all the construction sites. The cattle were also inspecting the pond construction here!

Thursday

I built a small pen for Nanny so that I could let Jake run free for a while today. He really enjoyed the freedom. We have hopes that he will have a new home soon with a big fenced yard.

Jerry had lunch with the Bible study group today so I went to the barber shop and Whataburger.

This afternoon I moved some damaged hay bales with the tractor. The weather forecast calls for cold weather soon but it was nice today riding on the open tractor.

This is Thursday night supper at church so I did my computer work in the office and still had some time left for blogging.

Wednesday

I took Jerry to Ft. Worth on Wednesday for a check up with the hip doctor. The xray did not show any change in the last year. He offered no real solution to what had caused the pain in that leg and hip last month. He just told her to be careful about movement out of the range of the artificial joint and continue exercise to strengthen the muscles around the joint and come back for another check up next year.

Tuesday


I noticed some construction activity on the land to our east today. The electric company was putting in poles for a line to the site. Looks like a new house foundation is started. This shot is from the drilling pad looking east toward Clifford's house. That is the roof of Clifford's house above the white pickup. The pickup is not close to the house as it looks in the picture. The driveway for the new house is off county road 102 between Clifford's corner and the creek.



The bulldozers started working on the pond here. The pecan tree in the picture is just behind the dam of the old pond that has been dry.







The old shed (Lauren's and Andy's fort) fell quickly before the dozer.














After going to the bank and post office this afternoon I stopped by the school to get Will and Jesse. Then we inspected the construction site.

















First Will helped Jesse up then Jesse offered Will a hand.

Monday - Yes We Are Still Alive!

It has been five days since I last updated this site. Clarice sent an email asking if we were sick. No, I have just been busy doing other things. The gas company has decided to build a water storage pond here in the area where I once had my hog pen and where I have most of my farming equipment stored. Friday and Saturday was spent moving the old equipment to another area out of the way.

Some of the equipment could be pulled on its own wheels but other pieces had to be mounted on the tractor for transport. Climbing up and down into the cab of the big tractor so many times was hard on this old man. I certainly don't need a trip to the gym for a workout!

Saturday we attended the funeral for O Z Wallace Strickland. Jerry helped with the family meal before the memorial service. Earlier we had attended Will's three on three basketball game in Maypearl. Friday evening we saw Andy's team engaged in a hard fought game with Grandview. Grandview was in the lead by 6 or 8 points with about 3 minutes to play. Maypearl had a streak of good playing and pulled into the lead by one point with seconds to play. They were able to keep Grandview away from the basket until the last seconds when a crazy shot at the buzzer went through the hoop and Grandview won by one point. It was a very exciting game.

Monday we moved the last piece of farm equipment to the new location and got the offset plow started in the sudan field. The ground is still just a little wet in one corner of the field but is plowing good in the rest of the area.

Jerry was having lunch with the quilt club at FBC so I went to have lunch with them and them on to Burleson to get the tires installed on my pickup. I met Will when he got home this afternoon and took him to see the construction and help move the fencing materials stored around the old shed in the hog pen. Yes, this is the location of Andy's and Lauren's fort during the past holidays. The shed will be destroyed in the construction of the new pond.

Jeff came by after work to pick up Will then Jerry and I drove to the north place and noticed that the low fuel warning light had come on so we went on to Alvarado for gas and a burger at McDonalds.
