Eighteen Wheeler plus Fifty-six

I don't know what the load is but it must be heavy.




We saw this truck in Ballinger last week when we drove through there.

We drove behind the truck until it turned toward Abilene. He just cleared the underpass at 15 feet 6 inches.

Tuesday Evening


Late in the day we took a stroll in the park --







near the visitor's center by the river.






David was trying to entice the ducks to come to the food we had dropped on the rocks.





Grandma had waited for us on the park bench.














Turk's Cap was blooming along the fence.

Tuesday


I was up early today enjoying the cool morning air. My first stop was locating a cache by the Veteran's Cemetery.




Next I drove to San Angelo State Park but the gate was locked. A fisherman waiting at the gate said he thought it should already be open. I got some excellent video of jackrabbits playing along side the road but left my camera cable at home so can't transfer them to the computer.

We made another run to the farmer's market this morning for fresh onions. The market was very quiet compared with last Saturday morning. Afterwards we drove to a fireman's home in Grape Creek. SE is caring for their animals and garden while they are on vacation.



The dogs welcomed us when we arrived.









Some old farm equipment had recently been moved from the family farm in Colorado.





Lunch today was at Chilango's by Alan's request and the food was superb. I need to go on a diet when we return home. David fell asleep as soon as we left the restaurant so SE and I stopped in the park by the Concho River to watch the turtles - many, many turtles.

Monday

Another full day. In the morning I drove daughter to church for a meeting while I picked up a couple of caches. At the first location just outside town on FM380 while I was signing the log a truck pulled up and a man got out and asked what I was doing. When I looked up it was Coy Nall! He now lives a little way down FM380 in Veribest. This was really a surprise. After visiting a while we went on our way and I met daughter after her meeting.

Alan took us to lunch at the Dun Bar Restaurant. It was an old fashioned restaurant on business 67 that didn't even have a name on the outside of the building. They served lots of good country good including some magnificent pies.

Everyone had a good nap after lunch before going shopping. For supper I heated leftovers from yesterdays Mexican food lunch at Henry's Mexican restaurant. The leftovers were more than I could eat for supper.

I searched out a few more geocaches late today including one at the southwest edge of town. About 400 feet from the street into the mesquite and prickly pear thicket I flushed a flock of wild turkey. Couldn't get my camera turned on before they disappeared into the brush.



Found a sun-bleached antler near the cache location.




Sissy called and helped us find pictures on the teenmissions web site. We finally found a picture of Lauren in a group shot. They are in boot camp this week. Can you find Lauren in the picture?

Sunday Afternoon


After lunch and our afternoon nap someone from the hospital called and asked if David would like to visit the Medivac helicopter. Of course we said,"Yes!" David's dad was working as dispatcher for the ambulance and helocopter this afternoon.





David sat in the pilot's seat.








Grandpa checked out the tail rotor. Thunderclouds had built up in the area so the helicopter had been moved into the hanger.







Later I hunted some geocaches down by the Concho River. The ducks were peaceful.






Another cache was hidden in the park by the International Waterlilly Collection. Not very many of them were blooming this time of year.



However these pads were impressive - maybe 4 feet across!

Paul Ann

We attended worship today at Paul Ann Baptist church in the Paul Ann subdivision of San Angelo.


This is a picture of the rear of the sanctuary. It is quite unique. I visited with the technical crew about their system since I am helping with the sound and video system upgrade at our church. One of the video technicians had played in a band at Chambers Creek for their D-Now week-end. The technical crew consisted of 5 people in the booth and two camera persons on the floor.

The pastor is in Juarez with their mission trip this week so he had sent a video back from Juarez about the conditions there including interviews with some of the others that are ministering to that community. The video was played on screen after the music portion of the service. It was a very good service and served to connect the congregation back in San Angelo with the work going on in the mission field.

The seating is in a fan shape around the platform. I counted 100 chairs in the longest row and there were 15 rows of chairs with each row being shorter toward the front. That likely totaled around 1000 chairs and they were at least 85 to 90 percent filled today at the second morning service.
